I arrived here at my laptop ready to finally get to that post I’ve been meaning to write for quite a few days now. I thought it was a really great idea for a subject, and it probably still is, meaning with any luck I’ll get to it tomorrow while I’m at work (sshhhh!).
But when I first go to my site I reflexively scroll through the whole thing to see what may have changed since the last time I saw it…hey you never know who may have dropped by or what comments may have been added. Sure enough, there in MyBlogLog was a new visitor, Halil. As I almost always do I clicked on the avitar there to see who this Halil is!
Well, it turns out Halil runs a site called Peopleized. I’ve come across quite a few new-to-me blogs that I find absolutely fascinating, one of which was to be part of the subject of the post I mentioned above that it looks like I’m not going to be writing tonight. OK, I’ll throw a quick shout out to that site, the thinking blog, partly because ilker yoldas, who’s site it is, is connected to Peopleized anyway. (BTW, ilker doesn’t seem to think much of capitalization on her blog so I’ll just follow her lead on this when writing about her or quoting her
)
Peoplized seems… remember I just found it tonight… to be one of those simple “why didn’t I think of that” ideas that Halil has pulled off beautifully, with design assistance from ilker. One good way for me to describe Peopleized is to use ilker’s own words from her site:
The practice of interviewing interesting and relevant bloggers isn’t new. It’s a great way to generate new content, promote your blog/website, make new friends and build lasting relationships for you and your blog. Traditionally this was done over emails but took much time and effort on both parts. Now there is a social network to do this more efficiently and hassle free - Peopleized!
Months before Peopleized launched, I received an email from one of the site’s creators, Halil, for an interview to be published once his site was completed. At first I thought he was preparing for a blog where he would interview different bloggers and provide a “behind-the-scenes” perspective to their readers. However, I was told, that this will not be the case. Peopleized is a totally new network of bloggers who have very good content on their blogs but still have a problem reaching out to new readers.
My take on Peopleized is that it’s something of a free for all interview network of member bloggers who, once they register (simple and quick), can request interviews of other members or just query another member with questions directly if the receiving member has allowed that in their preferences.
The benefit for all involved of course is the social networking and linking this generates. Either side of an interview is free to post the interview on their own site…content done simply!
So far it’s an attractive site with a good basic premise that has more potential than what is currently on display. Quite a few of the interviews are conducted by Halil himself. This is a standard interview everyone gets automatically when they register. As more members grow in their own confidence I believe you’ll see more member to member interviews (there are some) which I feel is where the real, spontaneous action really is.
Check it out for yourself…you can always come back here and comment on what you found interesting, useful or just plain weird on Peopleized!
