New Buttons - Big Ones!GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

Two of them actually, one to the right of this post in the sidebar and one in the footer. Plus a scattering of smaller banners throughout this post. Of course if these were revenue generating advertising for me, I don’t think I would dedicate a whole post to directing readers to them. Well…maybe I would, but I don’t really have that kind of advertising on this site yet anyway…”nothing to write about” you might say.

But having found GoodSearch, now I do indeed have something worth writing about.

To wit:

“We all have a cause we care about - whether it’s finding a cure for cancer, saving the environment, finding homes for abandoned pets or so many other worthwhile endeavors. But what we don’t all have is the time or money to support these efforts as much as we’d like. So, what if we could raise money for our favorite charities and schools by doing something we do every day — searching the Internet?”

That’s from the about page, the whole site is easily navigable so I’ll let you explore the rest on your own if you’re so inclined.

This is a company that’s been around since 2005, founded by a sister and brother who were accustomed to success in their business and professional endeavors but knew there had to be more they could do to give back. You might find the page that specifically introduces you to these two founders particularly interesting.

Why Me ?- Why Now?
GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

The first answer, to the second question, for me personally is that I only just found this site today. That is a fact I can’t quite explain since they have been around for quite a while in ‘net years and have been reported on by just about every major news outlet around…somehow I just missed them!

The answer to why now is simply to make up for lost time. There are two ways for me…and you…to do that. I use FireFox and adding the GoodSearch mod to the toolbar was nearly instantaneous, that’s how simple it was. Now every search I do will contribute something to my chosen charity - yes, you can choose from such an inclusive list you’ll have no problem finding one. The other way for me to make up for that lost time and money donated is by spreading the word, hence the pretty buttons, and this post.

To come full circle now and answer the first question I posed above (why me?), the best answer is why not me…and why not you? This idea, when put into action, will not cost any of us anything. It is in fact something you probably do all the time anyway and since you can’t (by Google rules) make yourself money by using your own adsense search units, why not make some money for someone who actually can put it to good use?

And of course by choosing your charity, you have more say in where your contribution goes than if you leave it in Google’s own hands…I mean every search we habitually do through Google is ultimately adding to their already unimaginable revenue flood, and in fairness I do believe they as a company are as philanthropically sound as any other, but by choosing your charity (whatever you have in mind, it’s there, believe me!) you obviously have more control.

Why Not You? - Why Not Now?
GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

Please consider joining me in this, I can’t think of a reason not to conduct all of my ‘net searches this way. If you’re wondering what search engine you’re tapping in to when you GoodSearch - it’s Yahoo, so I don’t think you lose that much, if anything, in the quality of your search results. You may not, and don’t have to agree, but so far (I’ve been playing with it all day now) I’m satisfied with the results I get…remember when almost all of your searches were on Yahoo??

Hit one of the buttons or banners here and get started, they’re not affiliate links…I don’t think they even have such a thing but I didn’t look. I don’t think you’ll find an easier, more useful way to give than this….I haven’t so far, but if you know of something comment here so I can write about it too!!
